Movie Review: Perfect Mismatch;

Rating: * 1/2 - Mismatched entertainer.

Perfect Mismatch narrates the tale of an architect Aman (Anubhav Anand) who falls in love with Neha (Nandana). But things begin to turn for the worse as his orthodox uncle (Boman) who has brought him up meets Neha’s dad (Kher). Their first meeting itself sets the tone for the things lying ahead. Now it is up to the two lovers to find a way out to bring both the warring families together. What crazy mix up it all leads to and what pleasant changes it brings about in all the characters involved forms the rest of the plot.

This Indo-American venture doesn’t have a bad plot but just that it doesn’t have anything spectacularly different to offer. The film has its share of genuinely funny moments that one can enjoy with the full family unlike few recent so called romantic comedies. However, the film is held together by the performances of Boman and Kher as one keeps looking out for their next encounter together. Debutante director Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad’s doesn’t impress with his narrative style and his lack of technical finesse shows. Music by Josh has nothing much to cheer about.

Boman Irani and Anupam Kher were last pitted against each other in the extremely loveable Khosla Ka Ghosla three years back and they have a wonderful chemistry between them continuing with this film as well. Debutante Anubhav Anand is like able and delivers in his maiden act. Nandana is just about passable though. The rest mix of Indian and American actors is just about average.

The show I went to watch for at a suburban Mumbai multiplex for reviewing this film in the morning didn’t take place because of lack of audience and I had to run to another multiplex for a noon show. Now do I need to say anything more about the film?

INFORMATION:

The name Anaconda comes from the Sri Lankan language, Sinhalese, which originally probably referred to the Reticulated Python. No one is sure how this name came to represent a South American snake (unless the Anaconda and the Python were mistaken as the same species. Both snakes are swimmers and two of the largest snakes in the world.

The Tamil word for Anaconda is "Anaikolra" which means "elephant killer". The early Spanish settlers referred to this snake as"Matatoro" or "Bull Killer".

Anacondas can measure more than 30cm (12in) in diameter and are the heaviest snakes in the world, but not the longest. Pythons hold the world's record for length as they can grow up to 10m(33 feet).

A 6-meter Anaconda will weigh more than a 10-meter Python.

The pressure an Anaconda exerts on its prey is around 85PSI, the equivalent to the whole weight of a school bus on a man's chest. According to measurements, this pressure is exerted non-stop for about 15 minutes.

Anacondas have a very slow-acting digestive system. After a big meal the Anaconda will rest for days, weeks or even months while digestion occurs. One captive Anaconda is on record for fasting over two years.

Although there are several stories of Anacondas eating men, none of them were actually proved. According to studies, it is possible but unlikely that an Anaconda or Python would be able to swallow a whole man.

There are records of female Anacondas eating their partners after mating. The females are usually much larger than the males (see the JPG provided in the Torrent).

On land Anacondas can become tick-infested and they cannot move as quickly as they do in water.

Plot: Set in Bollywood, Short Kut - The Con is On tells the story of two strugglers, one who makes it big as a Superstar (Raju - Arshad Warsi) after stealing a script, and the other whose struggle as a director (Shekhar - Akshaye Khanna) continues after his script gets stolen.
Things get really interesting when reigning actress Mansi's (Amrita Rao) romantic involvement with Shekhar gets culminated into a marriage while her professional interactions with Raju begin.
